Receipt printing
Set up your receipt printer with an IP address and port.
Connect a compatible network printer, enter its address and port 9100, then check your first receipt.
StamPOS Desktop can print directly to a compatible Ethernet receipt printer using its IP address and TCP port 9100. This setup has been confirmed through the StamPOS sale workflow. You do not need to select a Windows printer queue for this connection method.
Before you begin
- Connect the printer and StamPOS computer to the same reachable local network. The computer may use Ethernet or Wi-Fi if the network allows it to reach the printer.
- Switch on the printer, load receipt paper and close the cover.
- Find the printer's current IP address on its network configuration printout or ask your network administrator. Use the printer's address, not the computer's address.
- Confirm that the printer supports the StamPOS network receipt format. An Ethernet socket alone does not establish compatibility; receipt layout, cutting and drawer operation depend on the model.
Enter the printer settings
- Sign in with Administrator access and open Hardware & payments.
- Set Receipt printer to NETWORK_PRINTER.
- Enter the printer's address in Network printer IP.
- Enter 9100 in Network printer port. Use a different port only if your printer setup requires it and it has been confirmed with your installer.
- Select Save settings, then Print test receipt.
- Check the physical receipt: it should be readable and feed correctly. Confirm cutting if the printer has a cutter.
- Complete a controlled cash sale and check the customer receipt before trading. Follow your site's procedure for recording test sales.
Example
This is an illustrative address only. Replace it with your printer's actual address.
| StamPOS setting | Example value |
|---|---|
| Receipt printer | NETWORK_PRINTER |
| Network printer IP | 192.168.1.50 |
| Network printer port | 9100 |
Enter the IP and port in their separate fields. Do not enter a web address or append :9100 to the IP field. The Windows printer name is not used in NETWORK_PRINTER mode. SIMULATOR mode does not print paper.
Connect a cash drawer
A compatible printer-connected cash drawer can open through the same network printer. Connect it to the printer's drawer socket using the correct cable. In Hardware & payments, set Cash drawer to DIRECT_NETWORK_PULSE, select Save settings, then Test cash drawer. Check that the drawer physically opens and can be secured. Printer and drawer wiring varies, so confirm the combination before deployment.
If the receipt does not print
| What you see | What to check |
|---|---|
| No paper output | Confirm NETWORK_PRINTER is selected, paper is loaded and the cover is closed. |
| Cannot reach the printer | Recheck the printer's current IP, port 9100, power and network cable. Confirm the computer can reach it on the local network. Guest Wi-Fi may isolate devices. |
| A connection succeeds but the receipt is blank or unreadable | Confirm the exact printer model and receipt format with StamPOS support. A successful connection alone does not confirm printing compatibility. |
| Printing stops after a router or printer restart | Check whether the printer's address changed. Ask your network administrator to reserve a stable address, then update StamPOS if needed. |
| Receipt prints but the drawer stays closed | Check the drawer setting, lock position, correct cable and printer drawer socket. Repeat Test cash drawer. |
Use Print test receipt when troubleshooting; do not repeat a customer payment to test a printer. Keep the printer connection on the local network; internet port forwarding is not required.
Before each event
Check the saved printer IP and port, print a receipt, test the drawer if fitted and keep spare paper available. Local network receipt printing does not require an internet connection, but the computer must still be able to reach the printer. Linkly Cloud payments require their own working internet connection and approved setup.
